Helping the farmers to help themselves!

       The Economist says:  “Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, twice tried rural modernization and twice ended up with egg on his face. The first was what the farmers called “suit-boot ki sarkar’ (suit-boot government) and the second when a  noisy group of farmers from the north resisted reform. And yet Indian “rice growers harvest about a third less  than their Chinese peers and pulses are grown more efficiently in crisis-ridden Myanmar”.
Possible solution? :  Keep aiming at the farmers instead, helping them help themselves!
