Baby Maleka

My Sangean small radio was next to my pillow when the alarm went off as usual at 7am. But this time, there was no announcement of the news. Instead, I heard the strong but plaintive, oh so wonderful cries of baby Maleka, an infant, a mere baby infant informing, I imagined, the whole world of her own existence! This just-born baby had been rescued by an Arab lady nurse from the total ruins of an Israeli raid. The lady did not have a child of her own and desperately wanted one. There  was no other claimant. They had to decide quickly about the belongings they would take with them. She chose the child’s.
I kept on thinking:   how long is this charade going to go on. My previous post, A  Lasting Solution, had shown how the Gazans could learn from the Israelis - instead of fighting them! - and become more prosperous. I had said it was the only lasting solution and that there was no other. Favoring both sides!
Could  some generous Israeli group – and there are many in existence – ever join hands with a similar, far-seeing  Gazan Muslim group and get it going? The initial results would  be seen within the first or second year itself.  (much less  than the 75 years spent complaining). In fact, if it worked for Gaza, it could work equally well for next-door Lebanon, and in fact, for all poor Muslim nations. Would it ever happen? - AB
